Naveen John is 20-year-old with Intellectual and developmental disability joined pre-vocational training at Seva-in-Action in 2019. He studied up to 9th standard in main stream school at Bangarpet, Kolar district. Parents identified that Naveen could not able to continue his education because of his limitation. Based upon Naveen’s priority parent shifted to Bengaluru from Bangarpet and joined him for pre-vocational training at SiA.

He was well dressed & groomed with parent support. He hesitate & scares to talk due to lack of confident. He used to communicate with few words. He took time to adjust new environment at SiA. We spoke with his parents & planned many activities for him. Slowly he started to make friends, communicate with others, started to help his parents at home, communicate with his friends through the phone. Because of this pre-vocational training Naveen started to learn count the thing, do sums of addition & learnt gross and fine motor skills. He travelled independently for SiA arranged 3 days trip with his friends, started dance with the group, etc.

He is interested in computer related work. We tried computer training with him. But his interest and ability were not matched so made him understand the reality. We discussed about Naveen’s skills with his parents & siblings. They understood the fact and consequently now Naveen continuing his practical training at grocery shop. All skills which he learnt at SiA helps him in finding his career.
