PARIVAAR – National Confederation of Parents Organizations (NCPO) was formed in the year 1995. It is a Federation of over 245 Parents Associations and Civil Societies in 31 States of India working for Persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities [IDDs] consisting of Intellectual disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy and Multiple Disabilities.

Seva-in-Action (SiA) in partnership with Parivaar to promote Self-advocacy and self-awareness skills among Persons with Intellectual & developmental disabilities (PWIDDs), so that they can learn how to advocate for their needs and rights through effective communication. SiA started Self Advocacy Skill Development program at SiA & trained its candidates as Self Advocates through Mentor’s training. At present, some of its candidates are the office bearers in the Self Advocates’ Forum of India  (SAFI) formed under PARIVAAR. There are more than 6000 self-advocates, who are members of Safi, across India.
