Program :Skill Development Training program |
SiA started with the skill development and livelihood program in Ramanagara centre when the adults with intellectual disabilities & parents did not know how to help them in getting open wage employment/self-employment or engage them with meaningful livelihood opportunities. The main objective of the Skill development training is to provide training to persons with disabilities in specific job skills towards their economic empowerment. The following topics will be covered along with the specific job skills:
Training & Employment is most important because having skills & job enhances social status and provides wages. It increases integration of contacts and opportunities for other integrated activities. Adult with Disabilities will become productive members in the family and it increases their self- esteem & promotes individual growth. People with intellectual disabilities should be taught skills in the environment in which they are going to be used i.e. on the job. In this context, SiA is looking for adult with disabilities who requires skill training where they can work in areas of Retail and Hospitality. SiA will assist them in the initial stages of training. |
Areas of Training The program offers support skills for the protective market and open-market based on the capacities and potentials of the trainees. A vital part of the program is ‘Personality Development and Soft Skill Training’ along with exposure visits, excursions, adventure camps which are organised on a regular basis. It also provides training on ‘Self-Advocacy and Communication’ skills. . |
